- Physical Development
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Literacy
- Mathematics
- Understanding the world
- Expressive Arts and Design
There is also focus on developing and supporting children’s Effective Characteristics of Teaching and Learning at a time when they are actively curious and questioning. Staff are skilled at extending children’s learning ‘in the moment’ by making a comment, asking an open ended question, or offering an alternative point of view.
The butterfly routine is very carefully planned to provide a stimulating environment for early learning, both indoors and outdoors, through play, problem solving and exploration.
Key Persons, all either qualified Teachers or Early Years Support Workers, ensure a balance between child initiated and more structured, adult led learning.
Pictures of activities and the learning environment are regularly posted on our Facebook page.
Butterflies is based in a larger room with specific areas to support the whole curriculum. As part of continuous provision our white basket system ensures there are writing tools, books and Mathematical resources in each area. We also provide interesting and unusual items and other planned resources to inspire and respond to children’s interests.
