Two Year Entitlement

Children may start in Ladybirds from their 2nd birthday. We offer a number of funded places for 2 year olds. Parents intending to apply for a working parent funded place will need to provide evidence of eligibility to the school in the form of an entitlement code (known as a DERN code)

30 hours funding

How to apply for Extended 30 hours entitlement
Parents intending to apply for a 30 hour place will need to provide evidence of eligibility to the school in the form of an entitlement code (known as a DERN code).
To obtain this code please visit https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk/ , scroll down to the box headed ’30 Hours free childcare’, and click ‘Apply Now’.
You’ll need to set up an account by completing a large number of screens with relevant information.  Just as a heads up there are over 50 screens to work through so this can take some time – early feedback from parents indicates probably much longer than the stated 20 minutes.
Make sure you have the following ready, for both parents, before you start:-

  • National Insurance number
  • if you’re self-employed, your Unique Taxpayer Reference
  • the date you started, or are due to start work  (approximate if more than 3 months ago)
  • details of any other government support you get
  • your passport, a payslip or p60

This process is to check both identity and eligibility, set up a Government Gateway account and create a child care services account.

If eligible you will then be able to find your DERN code (usually starting 500) in your childcare services account.
The school will need you to state the DERN code on your application, together with the National Insurance number of the parent who set up the childcare services account.

The DfE have given the following numbers should you need any help with this process:-

0300 123 4097 Helpline

0300 123 9232 – Minicom (audio impaired)

If you receive a Universal 15 Hour Offer place and wish to book any regular extra sessions these can be booked in advance by completing the form below. You will be invoiced for these sessions. Ad hoc sessions may also be available, bookable and payable in advance or on the day.It is important to note that schools set a maximum number of Extended 30 Hour Offer places, and it is possible that not every child entitled to the Extended 30 Hour Offer will be able to take this at Wheatley Nursery School. In the event that we are oversubscribed we are working closely with Oxfordshire County Council to ensure the admissions policy is applied correctly.
